KARACHI—Ravi Bopara, a former England all-rounder, has officially started his term as head coach of Karachi Kings. He expressed optimism and gratitude prior to the much-awaited Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.
Commenting during a team training session on Tuesday, Bopara said the chance was not only great for him but also of utmost importance in PSL’s pursuit of the best future talents for Pakistan cricket.
A Driven Coach Takes the Reins Again
Bopara, who has previously played for Karachi Kings, stated that he was thankful for the franchise’s persistent assistance and looked back on his career pathway from a player to a coach.
“The Karachi Kings management staff has backed me extraordinarily from the beginning to this very day. I have had a great journey, from being a player to now becoming the head coach of the team. This thought is very exciting and a great honor,” he remarked.
Player Creation as No.1 Goal
Bopara made it clear that he would concentrate mainly on developing young talents as a coach and would help the players who were close to the Pakistan National team but had fallen out of favor with the selectors to get back into the team.
“The principal objective of the PSL is to design a system that would help to produce players for the future of Pakistan cricket. The players who are currently not part of the national team squad get a chance to come back to play for the country,” he said, referring to the source of new talent on the one hand and the players who have lost their places on the other.
He also talked about the importance of growth, saying, “It would be great if players could leave the tournament stage as better players than they came.”
A Well-Regimented and Highly Competitive Squad
“Bopara was very impressed by the Karachi Kings’ lineup, as it had a good mix of young and talented local players and experienced foreign players.
“We have a very good squad, especially local players. We, along with them, have a number of well-versed overseas players. The correct balance of experience is quite vital for success in the tournaments.”
Bopara particularly mentioned the presence of experienced Pakistani players whom he believes will be able to lead the young team members in the right direction and eventually improve the team’s performance.
Looking Into The Future Of PSL 10
PSL 10 is on the verge of starting, and Bopara said he is looking forward to the first match of the season.
“I am really looking forward to the boys in the first match and the whole season to unfold before my eyes.”
