The record-setting chase from the Kings at PSL 10 resulted in an absolute thriller of a Saturday cricket game at the National Bank Stadium. Karachi Kings came from behind to win their first game in PSL 10, contested against Multan Sultans with a 4-wicket victory margin. With this win, Karachi Kings have 2 points and are in third position in the PSL 10 points table.
With his incredible performance, James Vince, Karachi’s opener, was the leading player who created the team’s victory in the game. Vince stunned all the spectators as he pipped 101 in PSL history off just 43 balls. He hit the rope 14 times and sent the ball over the fence four times, giving a solid foundation to the dramatic victory of the Karachi team.
Vince felt no pressure from the innings as he got good support from Khushdil Shah, who pulled off 60 runs in an astonishingly low time of 37 balls, including five four-baggers and four maximums. Their stunning share of 142 runs revolutionized the situation single-handedly in favor of Karachi. Although both were out one after the other at the end, the remaining batsmen did not panic and remained calm till the end.
Cool heads, Irfan Khan and Abbas Afridi, made short work of the last over, steering Karachi to victory. Karachi emerged winners by 236/6 in 19.2 overs — a fantastic chase that will be etched in memory for years.
In the initial stages of the game, the Kings had Tim Seifert, who scored a blazing 32 runs from 16 balls, including three sixes and two fours.
On the other hand, Akif Javed was Multan’s best bowler, taking 3 wickets. Usama Mir and Michael Bracewell combined for one wicket each.
Multan Sultans had earlier scored an impressive 234/3 with the help of some brilliant batting of the team captain, Mohammad Rizwan. His unbeaten 105 off 63 balls comprised nine fours and five sixes. Rizwan’s quartet of five sixes and lots of singles by Usman Khan (19), Kamran Ghulam (36), and Michael Bracewell (44* off 17) together with a 89-run partnership with Bracewell set the Bulls’ total towering high.
While the pressure was daunting for the bowlers of Karachi, Hasan Ali, Abbas Afridi, and Khushdil Shah finished their difficult day in the field with one scalp each.
The moment Karachi’s batting turned on its aggressive and mature side, it brought a memorable and unforgettable victory in their PSL 10 inaugural match. Consequently, the Kings went to third, and the Multan Sultans must settle for fourth place after the first match.
It sure looks like PSL 10 will be a barn burner of a season!
