Lahore Qalandars put up a massive score of 219/6 after they were sent in to bat by the opposing team. The credit for this score goes to the excellent batting of Fakhar Zaman and Sam Billings, who scored fifty runs. Meanwhile, Quetta Gladiators were dismissed for a paltry 140 in 16.3 overs, despite the good start, destroyed by the especially disciplined Qalandars bowling attack led by Rishad Hossain.
Fakhar Zaman and Sam Billings рlus batting skills are equal to the fire
Although the departure of Mohammad Naeem to the pavilion at an early stage was seen as a bad omen, Fakhar Zaman (67 off 39) and Abdullah Shafique (37 off 26) stood together with 56 runs to ally. The leading scorer Fakhar’s 7-4-3 was the option for the entire team.
Not long ago, Shafique was quickly out of the door, while Daryl Mitchell (37 off 23) arrived to form a most effective duo with Fakhar, who was the dominant force in the match, hammering 80 runs off the 44 balls he faced. Even though Quetta could only strike out Sikandar Raza and Shaheen Afridi while the score was just 3 down, Sam Billings flew high with his high score.
Sixteen balls were enough for Sam Billings to fire an enthralling 50*, apart from the other four he had earlier. He was like a blazing torch that set the Lahore pitch ablaze throughout his innings.
Abrar Ahmed was the only one, excluding Akeal Hosein, who got two wickets each in the last few overs of the game, while all others proved insufficient to cope with Lahore’s batters.
Rishad, Shaheen & Co. blow apart Quetta.
Quetta was given the target of 220, and they had a not-so-good start. Captain Shaheen Afridi’s brilliant performance resulted in the wickets of both Saud Shakeel (1) and Finn Allen (0) at the start of the third over. They were 9/3 in the process, and all this happened in a jiffy.
Though Kusal Mendis and Rilee Rossouw put forth a joint effort and had a 45-run partnership to revive their hope, Mendis made a stupendous 28 from 14 balls. His rally culminated in Haris Rauf bowling the very next over, which led to the team’s downfall. Later, Rossouw fought with an energetic 44 from 19, but did not get equal support from the other end either.
There was no subsequent lift in the Quetta batting lineup, and the team eventually managed to put up a score of only 140, thus losing by many runs.
Fakhar Zaman Basmati Buddy Championships
Rishad Hossain stood out as the best bowler in the game, taking 3/31 in his 4 overs. Asif Afridi, Shaheen Afridi, and Sikandar Raza were the pick of the bowlers, who took two wickets each, thus being the key to Lahore’s complete bowling performance.
Mastermind of the Match: Fakhar Zaman
His remarkable 67 runs, which put Lahore in the driving seat, led to his being named the game’s main character.
