Demotion for the left-hander from the squad of the second and final ODI, which the Mount Maunganui match is set to be staged on April 5, will take place if his health fails to return to normal.
Tim Seifert Called Up As A Replacement
New Zealand has replaced wicketkeeper-batter Mark Chapman with Tim Seifert, who recently was in form in the last five-match Pakistan T20I series. He, in that series, smashed out 249 runs, which was an average of 62, thereby becoming a real asset to the team.
New Zealand head coach Gary Stead mentioned that the news is troubling; however, he is happy that the injury is not serious.
“This is obviously very sad news for Mark [Chapman], who had a fantastic time playing in the 1st ODI in Napier,” Stead said. “We’re pleased it’s just a minor hamstring injury, so we’re optimistic he will be ready for the last match of the season in the Mount.”
