The 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy, hosted in both Pakistan and the UAE, has now set a new record for the most hundreds scored in a single edition.
England’s Joe Root scored a century off 98 balls against Afghanistan on Wednesday, which was the 11th ton of the tournament.
Surpassing Past Milestones
That feat bettered the previous record of 10 centuries, set in 2002 and equaled in the 2017 editions.
The tournament has served up some excellent batting performances with just eight matches played so far.
Star Centurions Shine
Will Young, Tom Latham, Towhid Hridoy and Shubman Gill have all piled up centuries.
Ryan Rickelton, Ben Duckett, Josh Inglis, Virat Kohli, Rachin Ravindra, Ibrahim Zadran, and Joe Root are also figures.
More Records in Sight
There are 15 matches in the tournament, but multiple games are still left to finish.
Batters maintaining their form could even see this new century record rise even higher.
