MS Dhoni to not retire after IPL 2025, is considered crucial for transition by CSK: Report

Unfortunately, CSK had a poor season in IPL 2025, but Dhoni is most probably not ready to retire. In spite of people saying that Dhoni would be retiring this year, he is still seen as a valuable player in CSK’s long-term goals during this shift in the team. CSK is looking to Dhoni to manage the team’s transition. A Times of India report quotes the CSK management saying they are hopeful Dhoni will stay with the team, as they consider his presence key for handing over leadership to new players.

The former India captain has not declared his retirement yet, but told the team that he will announce his choice very soon. CSK believes not everything is settled yet for Dhoni’s departure, and his presence keeps the young players on the team stable. It is thought that his knowledge is important for the team to get back on track for the next season. Fitness and Form Still Intact. A huge reason for Dhoni being kept on with CSK is that he maintains excellent fitness. He has played in every match and has looked brilliant while keeping and batting.

Whenever the team faced pressure, Dhoni moved closer to the top of the order to take charge and face the tough situations. Leadership Role Evolving. While Dhoni plays the most important role in the group, the actual team captain is now Ruturaj Gaikwad. Despite a slow start to IPL 2025 because of an elbow injury, CSK continues to feel that the young batter can take on a leadership role in the long run. It is expected that Dhoni will mentor Gaikwad and other young players as they get used to the higher level of competition in the IPL.

A Forgettable Season for CSK IPL 2025 brought about one of the worst performances from CSK in recent years. Having won only three games from 12 matches, they are sitting last in the table with six points. Although poor fitness has been a big issue all season, the CSK acknowledge that there is more to it. What Lies Ahead. Even though doubts about Dhoni’s future exist, CSK continues to stand by its decision: Dhoni plays a vital role in how India is trying to rebuild the team. He will have a big impact on CSK regardless of whether he is still a player, a mentor, or takes on a different job. Even if the fans must wait longer, Dhoni is still giving his best and continuing his cricket career.
