Asia Cup 2025 Will Be a Triple Clash for India and Pakistan
This year, the India National Cricket Team and Pakistan National Cricket Team could meet three times. With Cricbuzz reports declaring the Asia Cup 2025, the dates would tentatively fall in September.
The tournament will be played in the T20 format and will comprise 19 matches. According to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), it is scheduled to take place between the second and fourth week of September 2025.
Asia Cup 2025 Goes to Neutral Venue
The opening match of the 2025 Asia Cup will also be held in Pakistan, while the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will host the tournament in 2025, although they will not host it in India.
Sri Lanka or the UAE are the most likely locations that will host the tournament, after India-Pakistan agreements based on the hybrid model of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The decision follows persistent reluctance on the part of both countries’ teams to travel to each other’s country. It is in line with previous arrangements in the Asia Cup 2023 and the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The teams there are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong. Nepal, who took part in the 2023 edition, did not qualify this time.
The format divides the teams into two groups, including India and Pakistan in the same one. The top two from each group will qualify for the Super Four, from which the top two will play in a final.
Expected India-Pakistan Clashes: Three

The ACC has already earmarked four Asia Cups to be held by 2031. The 2027 edition will be played as an ODI in Bangladesh, 2029 will be a T20 event governed by PCB in a neutral venue, and the 2031 edition will be played as an ODI in Sri Lanka. Each one purports to be more high-stakes India-Pakistan confrontations.
