KARACHI: Aamer Jamal, fast bowler of the Karachi Kings, has been fined five per cent of his match fee for the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Code of Conduct violation. This occurred during their nerve-racking game against Peshawar Zalmi, which was played at the National Bank Stadium on Monday night.
Aamer was charged with misconduct for not following Article 2.5 of the conduct, which indicates “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a match.”
The moment took place in the 15th over of Zalmi’s batting, when, after taking the wicket of Hussain Talat, Aamer, with a nasty smirk, said to him the words of confrontation. The behavior was impolite and required an immediate punishment through a disciplinary measure.
Aamer did not hesitate to accept the penalty proposed by the match referee, Iftikhar Ahmed, and quickly established that it was acceptable to him, thereby eliminating the need for a hearing.
It is noted that Level 1 offences are minor infractions of the PSL Code of Conduct. Nevertheless, they still expect players to maintain a fair attitude and behave professionally on the field.
However, the game continued to be a thrilling one, with Karachi Kings getting a two-wicket win off the last ball of the match. Kings put up a steady performance, relying on Khushdil Shah’s three sixes and speculating a four from the last four balls of the 20th over, thus securing a two-wicket win and moving Kings to 58/5 from 4/1. The remaining 23* off 17 from Khushdil Shah did not go to waste in the sorting out of the win, he also bowled extremely well, grabbing 3/20. The captain, David Warner, built the innings with his terrific 60 off 47 balls, and Hasan Ali finished it off with a streaky boundary in the last over.
Previously, Peshawar Zalmi scored 147/8, with Babar Azam scoring the most with 46, and Mohammad Haris also scoring 28. Luke Wood was the best bowler for Zalmi, taking 3/28.
The victory promoted the Karachi Kings to the second spot on the PSL points table, while Zalmi, with only one win in four games, remained in fourth position.
