Shubman Gill, the captain of Gujarat Titans, stated he was disappointed with the team’s poor fielding during their 20-run loss to Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 Eliminator. Ending their campaign this season was a loss at the New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur. Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians are through to the second qualifier, where, on June 1 in Ahmedabad, they will meet Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a chance to advance to the final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Guajrat Missed Out Facing a massive target of 229, Gujarat Titans did their best, with B Sai Sudharsan helping with a gritty 80 from 49 deliveries, hitting 10 fours and a six. Washington Sundar ended the game with a quick 48 runs from 24 balls. Even though they worked hard, GT failed to score more, ending with 208/6 after 20 overs.

Unhappy with mistakes in the field, Gill wants to do better. After the match, Shubman Gill mentioned that his side lost due to many fielding mistakes. “Our defence failed us in the field. Dropping something at this time, and especially during the knockout stages, cannot be ignored, Gill said. “Suryakumar and Rohit both had chances on their lives, and we paid for it.” Fielding errors by Gujarat became a problem right away and ultimately cost them. Rohit Sharma was dismissed twice by England in the match, the first time at three and then again at 1, 2, as he went on to score 81. When Suryakumar Yadav got out on 25 and appeared to be out, he was allowed to continue because of a missed no-ball call.

Due to these lost opportunities, MI ended up with 228/5, which was more than GT could match, despite their strong batting effort. The team’s Results from Batting. The experienced Rohit Sharma gave MI a good start with an impressive innings. Essential plays from Suryakumar and Tim David helped Mumbai’s innings. GT bowlers Prasidh Krishna and R Sai Kishore tried to limit the runs, taking two wickets each, although it was too late. What’s Next? While the Mumbai Indians continue to win, the Gujarat Titans must reflect on what could have gone better. Although the group performed well during the season, a few minor issues on the pitch ultimately cost them on match day. Shubman Gill performed well in leading the team in his first year as captain, but this match proved he has a lot to learn about preparing for tense games, especially in the field. The IPL 2025 is entering its final stages, where MI and PBKS will clash in a thrilling match to determine who will face RCB in the final.
