Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have announced that they have roped in the service of South African batting prodigy Dewald Brevis following the injury of Gurjapneet Singh for the remaining part of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.
The 20-year-old Brevis, frequently called “Baby AB” due to his playing style that resembles the great AB de Villiers, has added an extra layer of powerful batting to the already strong CSK players. He has participated in 81 T20 fixtures, during which he has scored 1,787 runs, including a new high score of 162. His aggressive hitting and capability to provoke the opposition in the middle overs are just two of his many strengths.
Brevis gained his first South African T20I cap in 2023 and has so far been a participant in two international T20s for his country. His previous side was the Mumbai Indians (MI), where he played 10 matches and exhibited his potential on the biggest stage.
As per the CSA Press Release, Brevis accelerated his transfer back to Chennai Super Kings by offering him a 2.2 Crore INR deal. His entry is expected to bring a positive impact to the strong CSK middle order, which has suffered in the wake of Gurjapneet Singh’s injury.
Brevis’ signing is sure to make CSK supporters happy, as the franchise envisions maintaining its winning momentum and fighting hard to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2025.
