The Karachi Kings have announced the signing of fast bowler Abbas Afridi, who was in high spirits about the PSL (Pakistan Super League)’s upcoming season 10.
Afridi was first introduced by the Kings in season six (2021) of the PSL, and he was requested back in the Platinum category of the PSL 10 Draft after an outstanding performance by the Multan Sultans. Presently, with 29 matches and three seasons under his belt, the 24-year-old fast bowler has proven himself as an explosive, top-ranked prospect in the PSL, taking 43 wickets at an average of 19.74.
“I am very happy that the PSL is going to be started again, and I am also returning to my old family, Karachi Kings,” he said. “The preparation has been very good, and InshaAllah, I will be putting in strong performances throughout the tournament.”
Key Players for the Victory of the Team
In his statement about the Kings’ winning potential this season, Afridi admired the team for putting together a team of domestic and international cricketers who are diverse in abilities, and obviously, he used a reference to MashaAllah.
“By the Grace of God, the Karachi Kings have provided an extremely powerful squad for this season. The participation of the local youth and the presence of experienced international players in the unit give us an all-around edge, which will impact the result during the entire season. We are all positive that this comprehensive mix will take us to the final and win there,” he said.
When he was asked which one of the teams was likely to give the Kings the greatest challenge, he was very quick to answer, “Yes, every team is very strong for sure, but I am convinced that we are the best.”
The Leader to Follow Unseen before
Naturally, Abbas was glad to support the captaincy of the new skipper of the Karachi Kings, David Warner, who was also a well-known Australian cricketer.
“Our objective is clear- the opponents should not come close. We will follow the strategies of our captain, given to us by him, David Warner, and I am thrilled to be the leader of our team.”
Supported by Management and Enthusiastic Fans
Afridi expressed that most of his trust has been placed in the Kings’ management: “The management showed strong support for me in my return, and they were pushing me to do my best. I expect to live up to their expectations and help the team achieve.”
He ended with a soulful shout to the fans: “I humbly request all of the beloved fans− please come and back us up in the stadium. Your presence is very important to us.”
Karachi Kings vs Multan Sultans – April 12 Showdown
Karachi Kings are set to open their PSL 10 debut on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi, in a high-voltage game against Multan Sultans—the same squad that Abbas Afridi was a member of for multiple finals in recent seasons. With the adrenaline rush and anticipation of the game so high, Afridi remains focused on how much he can help the Kings after his second joining.
