Former cricketer reveals reason behind Pakistan’s cricket downfall

Basit Ali, the former cricketer, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Pakistan cricket team’s performance against New Zealand, claiming that their problem was already there after the Asia Cup 2023 group stage match against India.

Basit Ali pointed out that the Indian batters’ batting prowess, which he mentioned while talking on his YouTube channel, was the one that made the day of the Green Shirts’ decline.

Pakistan was brutally trounced by 228 runs, and they would like to thank KL Rahul and Virat Kohli for their incredible centuries, which set the record for the biggest win in the history of ODIs

“The first game of the Asia Cup vs. India was a draw. However, the impact of the opponent’s victory has left the batting and bowling of the Pakistan team unstable. In fact, during the whole T20 World Cup of the previous year, we could not even chase 119 runs,” the former cricketer said.

He cautioned that it was true that the present national team encountered that if this performance was ongoing, the qualifiers for the next major events might be the only way for them to get in.

“Unless we grow our roots, we will be going through the process of qualifiers,” he mentioned.

“In the 10 wickets that were lost, it was all pacers. Talented front batsmen we had, who were out early, now there is no talent in Pakistan. Our cricket, or say the talent of our cricketer, starts from Babar Azam and finishes there,” Basit Ali said.

It should be mentioned that after failing to deliver an excellent performance in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Men in Green suffered a crushing loss in the T20I series against New Zealand, 4-1.

The aim was to come back by doing well together in the ODI series. Unfortunately, the competition ended with two games with a lower score of 73 and 84 runs than the first match and with a 2-0 result in a three-match series.

The New Zealanders won against Pakistan in all aspects of the game, making the plight of the national team even more visible.
