Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 have ended. A series of underwhelming performances has ruined their campaign.
It started with a 60-run loss to New Zealand in Karachi, a disappointing opening. Their hopes took a hit as the team lost to India by 6 wickets in Dubai.
With those defeats, Pakistan’s destiny was now reliant on other outcomes falling their way. New Zealand’s victory over Bangladesh, on Feb. 24 in Rawalpindi, confirmed their elimination.
New Zealand’s win guaranteed them a place in the semi-final and knocked Bangladesh out. In Group B, New Zealand and India will be moving on.
The tournament’s format allows two from each group to move on. The semi-final victors will meet in the final on March 9 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
But if India makes it to the final, it will be in Dubai. Pakistan, meanwhile, will be left to ponder what might have been.
