Spin bowling dominated the West Indies’ win, defeating Pakistan by 120 runs in the second Test match. The West Indies secured their first Test win in Pakistan since 1990 as they leveled the series 1-1 following a Day 3 victory during their chase of 254; Pakistan crumbled while on offense under heavy pressure to finish at 133 all out.
Day 3:
On day three, Pakistan’s score stood at 76/4, and they required 178 additional runs to win. However, they were defeated after succumbing to the Caribbean spin attack. Saud Shakeel became Kevin Sinclair’s first victim when he scored 13 in the first over. Jomel Warrican delivered another swift over to dismiss Kashif Ali after he scored only one run, pushing Pakistan’s score to 76/6.
Pakistan 2nd Innings:
The seventh-wicket partnership of Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha lasted 39 runs before the brief collaboration ended. Warrican sent Salman off for 15 runs before the Pakistan batting line crumbled again. Rizwan’s 25 and two other victims turned Warrican into their fourth loss while the team’s batting order struggled to make significant progress. The sixth wicket of Noman Ali and the last dismissal of Sajid Khan brought Pakistan’s batting innings to an end at 133.
Historic Win:
Warrican emerged as the top bowler, taking five wickets for 27 runs during Pakistan’s visit. Sinclair and Gudakesh Motie combined to take the remaining wickets. Their joint efforts secured the visitors’ first historic triumph while leaving Pakistan’s batting performance in absolute ruin.
West Indies bowling:
The West Indies built their triumph on Day 2 through their excellent bowling performance, which reduced Pakistan to only 76 runs with four wickets lost. Shan Masood and Mohammad Hurraira left the match early before Babar Azam and Kamran Ghulam formed a 43-run partnership that provided stability. However, the partnership ended soon after Warrican dismissed Ghulam for 19, and Sinclair took out Babar for 31 as Pakistan’s batting struggled. Pakistan faced severe difficulties after Warrican sent Ghulam to the stands for 19 runs, followed by Sinclair taking out Babar for 31.
Pakistan Bowling:
Pakistan’s spin bowlers successfully limited the West Indies to 244 runs in their second innings. Kraigg Brathwaite stood out among the West Indies batters by surviving multiple bowling attacks with a heroic half-century, but Noman Ali and Sajid Khan shared four scalps each. The West Indies succeeded in reaching a demanding total line despite their teams’ best efforts.
